The mission of the Kansas State Association of Fire Chiefs is to provide the chief fire officers and managers of emergency services in Kansas with a forum to discuss issues and dispense information applicable to life safety and property conservation, and to provide education, services and representation to enhance the professionalism and capabilities of the fire service. Fire Chief of the Year Nominations Each year at our conference the Kansas State Association of Fire Chiefs recognizes a Kansas Fire Chief for outstanding service to community, department and the Kansas Fire Service. Nominations must be submitted in writing, should briefly outline the qualifications, credentials and reason for the nomination of the candidate. The following criteria must be followed in your written nomination. Has shown pro-active leadership of new and creative ideas (progressive leadership related to their departments or the Kansas Fire Service). Has demonstrated the highest degree of service to community and state by advocating or participation in programs that have promoted fire safety. Has exhibited an exceptionally high standard of professionalism and dedication to the Fire Service. Candidates must be an active member of the KSAFC. Anyone may nominate a Fire Chief. The nomination does not have to be from the same department or even the same community.
